Hi, I am Shaneef Karmali

Hi! I’m Shaneef Karmali, the Founder and Principal at Activate Coaching and Consulting Inc. As a Certified Organizational Coach and Leadership Consultant, I’m passionate about helping leaders and organizations overcome obstacles and create new and better serving paradigms. With over 20 years of experience leading high-performing teams in retail and hospitality, as well as successful entrepreneurship ventures in hospitality and real estate, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.

I have earned a reputation for building cohesive and dynamic teams that drive cross-functional collaboration, and I am committed to propelling organizational success through a people-first approach. I prioritize people-centered business decisions and have a track record of building engaged, high-performing teams. My personalized coaching and consulting solutions empower individuals to make positive changes in their personal and professional lives.

As a coach and consultant, I am guided by my values of integrity, equity, connection, and continuous improvement. I believe that a thriving team is the bedrock of a sustainable and successful business. My mission is to help individuals build leadership resilience and foster strong collaborative teams that drive organizational success. With my approach, I prioritize personal and professional development, creating a positive impact on both individuals and the wider organization.

As a UBC Certified Organizational Coach and licensed EQ-i 2.0 practitioner, I guide clients in making informed decisions based on facts, not assumptions. My attention to detail, passion for engagement, and desire to see people develop are evident in all that I do.

In my free time, I love spending time reading, exploring tropical beaches, and immersing myself in new cultures and cuisines. Having lived in Kenya, Ireland, and Canada, I draw on my unique perspective to approach each client as a distinct individual with their own experiences, values, and objectives. My coaching and consulting approach is founded on meeting clients where they are on their journey and empowering them to achieve the transformation they desire.

My ability to see how all the pieces fit together and bring calm during times of chaos and uncertainty makes me an effective coach and consultant. I thrive on helping people connect to the team's goals and believe that everything happens for a reason.

My careful, intentional approach to decision-making allows me to anticipate obstacles and build relationships based on trust. I am skilled at slowing down impulsive decisions and helping individuals and organizations carefully think through their long-term strategic plans.

I have a strong ability to understand the present situation by researching its history, and I use this skill to ask powerful questions that uncover root patterns and causes of behaviours and situations. I work closely with my clients to test assumptions, challenge their stories, and create new, more effective paradigms that help them move forward with greater clarity and purpose.

I am adept at tailoring my approach to each individual's unique qualities and interests. I am skilled at identifying the best way to recognize specific people's achievements in a way that is motivating to them and bringing together diverse teams to work productively.


I am committed to building trusting relationships within teams and finding deep satisfaction in working together to achieve goals. I am self-aware of my strengths and weaknesses, and I am skilled at surrounding myself with people whose skill sets complement mine.
